Utah Lake

Jensen and I both recently got callings to serve with the Young Men and Young Women in our ward.  We are both really excited! We have already been to several activities and it's been great getting to know everyone.  These pictures are from a boating activity we had a few weeks ago.  Our boating trip was meant to be a weekend trip down at Yuba lake, but we were rained out.  We made it down to Yuba and got a few hours of boating in, but when we were setting up the tents for the night it rained sooo hard and the wind blew sooo hard.  At the end of the storm our tents, clothes, and bags were all soaked through and we were all freezing, so we came back up to Springville to spend the night in our warm beds.  To get more boating in we went to Utah lake for our weekday activity instead.

Starwberry Days Forever

This roped calf gave up the fight as soon as he was caught.
A few weeks ago Jensen and I went to the rodeo at the Pleasant Grove Strawberry days with my friend Kira and her husband Mark.  It was a lot of fun! I've only been to the rodeo once before this, and this one did a lot more little events and tricks.  They also had delicious strawberries and cream there, which made the rodeo even better.

One more New Mexico

Here's the last post from our trip to New Mexico.  While we were there we went on a ghost tour in down town Sante Fe.  I don't believe in ghosts, but those stories sure made me want to go to some of the old hotels and wait for a ghost to appear.  We also ate lots of yummy food, and went to a gorge. (Which I can't remember the name of)

Disc Golf

Stu, Jensen's cousin, loves disc golf so we made sure to play a game while we were in New Mexico.  I've never played before and I was absolutely terrible, but I still had a lot of fun.  We went up to Sipapu Ski Resort to play on their course.  It was really pretty up there, and the trees were a nice change from the normal New Mexico landscape.
These two pictures are from the drive on the way back to Santa Fe from Sipapu.  There was a spot that overlooked the mountains and seemed to be trees going on forever so we stopped for some pictures.  Stu through a disc so we could watch it go down forever too.

Bandelier

Our second day in New Mexico we went to Bandelier National Monument.  It was amazing! I had no idea what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.  It's where Pueblo people lived thousands of years ago.  A volcano erupted millions of years ago and left ash that hardened and created hole-y rock side that they carved out to create cave like homes.

It was pretty icey.
This is where the Pueblo people built a city center that had hundreds of little rooms made of rock.  It even had multiple layers some below and above the ground.  The small circle of bricks in the center of ring of rooms is a Kiva where they performed religious ceremonies.

Family Reunion

Jensen's family reunion was a few weeks ago down in Santa Fe, NM.  One of his cousins and her husband live in Albuquerque so we drove down and stayed with her and her immediate family.  The family reunion was a lot of fun, but I'm pretty sure New Mexico is my least favorite state I've been to.  It's just so dry, and where we were had no mountains either, so it was really flat and not so pretty.

Even though my first impression of NM was not so great, there were quite a few pretty places we stopped and visited while we were there.  One of them was this little place. I'm not sure what it was, but we stopped to stretch our legs on the drive from Albuquerque to Santa Fe.

June Instagram

It's halfway through the month and I totally forgot to do a wrap up for June, so here you go!
In June I went camping, had picnics, went to the rodeo, did some crafts, saw lots of smokey skies from all the fires around Utah, celebrated my birthday with Suz, ate lots of snocones, and went long-boarding.

Hummer Ride

Here's the last post about our trip to Moab.  Last time Jensen and I went he really wanted to take a Hummer tour on the sand dunes, but we didn't go.  This trip we stopped by one of the tour companies and Jensen really wanted to take a guided tour where he drives a Jeep and follows someone around.  I was too afraid to do that, so I agreed to take the Hummer ride instead since a professional would be driving us around.   It was kind of expensive, but I'm so glad we did it!  We got really lucky and our hummer didn't have anyone else in it besides Jensen and I, so it was like a private tour.

Bumpy ride.
We stopped to take a shot of our view.
Here some other hummers our for a drive.
It's hard to tell in the pictures, but some of the hills we went up and down were so steep. I was amazed that the hummer was able to make them.
This wasn't the hummer we rode in, but ours went down this same section of the trail.  It was fun to watch another group go on the same part because of all the ladies screaming.  I didn't scream, but I was holding on for dear life on this part.

Arches National Park

Our trip to Moab was over the weekend, so on Sunday we wanted to take it easy and go to the Arches National Park.  Last year when we came we hiked out to Delicate Arch, but wanted to see some different ones this year (And close ones. It's quite the hike up to Delicate Arch).  No matter how many times I see the arches I am still amazed by their beauty.

Cheesy, but I had to do it.

 Both of the Windows!
 Turret Arch
I can't remember what these arches were called.  It was super hot and I was tired (and lazy) so I waited in the car while Jensen went out to them.
