Fall fall fall

Last Sunday Jensen and I went up Hobble Creek Canyon to enjoy the last little bit of fall before the leaves all drop and the weather gets colder.  I wish fall and the beautiful changing leaves lasted longer, but I guess if it did I would take its magnificence for granted.  These past few days have been much colder and I've got to say I'm excited for Halloween to come and go so the real holiday season will begin!

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Jensen!  You're the best husband a girl could ask for.  You make me laugh more than anyone I know, you know just what to say to make be feel better when I'm sad, and you give the best hugs.
Hopefully a lifetime of birthdays together will allow me to make up the first birthday you had when we were dating and I didn't do anything for you :).  (We had only been dating a few weeks and I had no idea what to do or what to get him so I panicked and didn't do anything.  haha)

Giving Thanks

Happy (late) Thanksgiving to all you Canadians! Monday was Canadian Thanksgiving, but Jensen had to work late, so on Sunday after General Conference Jensen and I had some friends over to celebrate.  I forgot to take pictures of all the yummy food I made :(. I was quite proud of myself.  I've made Thanksgiving dinner for Jensen and I before, but never for this many people.  It was delicious and we all ate to our heart's content.  It was so much fun!  After we ate and ate we played some fun games that made me laugh so hard my cheeks hurt.  Then we ate a little more.  Suz made those cute apple tarts for dessert.

It was a great weekend! I love conference and look forward to hearing the words of our prophet and apostles every six months.  Each conference I try to have specific questions in my mind as I listen, to help me pay more attention and to apply the messages to my own life.  This year President Eyring's talk especially stuck out to me.  I feel like Heavenly Father has been trying to teach me patience and to trust in his timing for quite a while.  Patience is a hard lesson to learn.  Jensen can tell you I'm not so good at it either with all the crying and pouting I do when things don't go my way :).  It was great to hear this talk as another reminder to trust in Heavenly Father.  President Eyring says "we can't insist on our timetable with the Lord has his own."  He knows what's best for us and I know that I should focus on serving others rather than to turn my thoughts to myself and those things I want but can't have right now.  I'm grateful for conference and hope to have a more positive attitude as I apply those teachings to my own life.  Did you have a favorite talk?

Baby Maeve

During our trip to Canada back in August I took some pictures of Maeve.  She's Ari and Brynley's little miracle baby and she's so cute! I wish I lived closer to them so I could see everyone, especially Maeve more often.  It will probably be another year the next time we see them and Maeve will be so big by then!

Halloween Wreath Tutorial

I don't usually decorate for Halloween, but this year I wanted a little something Halloween-ey at my house instead of just my usual fall decorations.  I though a wreath would be a fun and easy way to bring Halloween decor into my home.
Materials:
-one grape vine wreath (I bought one from Hobby Lobby that was 1/4th the price of the same wreaths at Michael's)
-halloween lights
-black spray paint
-ribbon
-foam feather bird
1. Spray your grape vine wreath black.  I just got the cheapest flat black spray paint I could find.

2. Wrap the lights into the wreath.  You can weave them into the branches on the front side of the wreath instead of wrapping them all the way around so more lights are visible.
3. Wrap the ribbon around the top part of the wreath and tie it into a bow.
4.  Add the bird and you're done! I did an owl so my wreath would be cute, but if you want a spookier wreath you can do a crow instead.

Mia Maid Photo Shoot

For our activity last night at church the Mia Maids had a fall photo shoot.  It was a ton of fun! We drove up Hobble Creek Canyon to a big white barn, and went to another run down barn in Mapleton.  These girls are beautiful and I love being able to work with them and get to know them with my calling in Young Women's.

Bring on October!

Apparently I didn't take very many Instagrams in September.  Just lots of pictures of my cat and a few of the outdoors and leaves.  I've also been trying to wear my hair other ways that just down or all the way up, so I've been practicing my braids. Well September was way to hot for me here, so I sure hope October brings some crisp fall weather!
