Better late than never

Jensen and I went to California to visit Dena and Andrew for our one year anniversary, about a month ago and I'm just now writing about it... I had never been to California before so I was really excited to go!

We passed through a couple of the areas Jensen served in on his mission on the way. Here's a picture of Jensen in Sun Valley Nevada, the first area he served in on his mission 10 years ago! He was so excited driving around and showing me his first apartment he stayed in and different places that were meaningful to him.
Reno! This is another area Jensen served in on his mission.
While we were in Reno Jensen really wanted to go to the car museum there (me, not so much). We went and it was ok :) My favorite part was that they had some old fashioned dress-up clothes that I got to try on and take pictures in.

Here's my first view of California ever! I was a little surprised to see so much snow in June! but we were at about 7,000 feet.

The first thing we did when we got there was visit the Google campus. We looked at all the statue/sculpture things of different Google products, and rode around on the Google bikes. When we were getting ready to leave a security guard told us the bikes were only for employees and we were supposed to have an escort to tour the campus. Oops! I'm glad we found out after we were done have our fun.

The second day we were in California we went to Santa Cruz to the beach. I haven't seen the ocean for a long time and I haven't seen the Pacific ocean since I was 10, so I was really excited to go. There was a platform next to the pier with a bunch of sea lions that were neat to watch. Every time a new sea lion joined them on the little dock they would growl and honk (I'm not really sure what to call the noise they made) at each other really loud.

The beach was actually pretty cold, but the sand was much warmer, so after walking around for a while Jensen and I decided to lay down on a towel and we both ended up getting a nice sun burn.

After the beach we went back and roasted some marshmallows and made s'mores. Yum!

The next day we went to San Francisco! I think this was my favorite part of our trip. We rode the train to get there and rode the cable cars to the wharf in San Francisco. We could see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from the wharf. We also got some Ghirardelli chocolate while we were there.

Down at the wharf Dena and I went to a little art gallery. They had Painting(s) by Chagall, Rembrandt etchings, and some sketches by Picasso.

We came home from out trip to find that while we were gone Pigeon found and ate an entire chocolate candy bar. I learned the other day that cat's can't even taste the flavor sweet. So she must really like the bitter taste of chocolate.
