We Love You Papaw

My Papaw passed away last Sunday and we are sad to have lost such a loved member of our family. I though I would just share some of my favorite memories with him.
Suzanne, Nicole and I were lucky enough to grow up down the street from him most of our lives. When I lived in North Carolina we ate Sunday dinner at his and my Grandma's house every week, and whenever we got our report cards he would take us out to eat to celebrate. Suzanne and I always chose buffets for our celebration dinners.
Papaw loved the gospel and the Book of Mormon more than almost anyone I know. To practice his typing every morning he would type out all the characters of the Book of Mormon. He was a great teacher and tried to instill his love for the scriptures with everyone. When Suzanne and I were trying to learn all the Articles of Faith for our Gospel in Action awards my Papaw was the one who taught them to us. He also taught us all the patriarchs in the Bible from Adam all the way down to Israel. I still remember quite a few of them (Adam, Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch...). When Suzanne and I turned 8 my grandma and papaw came up to visit us in Alaska so he could baptize us. And growing up almost every blessing I got was from him.
I think second to reading scriptures Papaw's favorite thing to do was to go fishing. He would take Suzanne and I to my Aunt Monk's pond to catch blue gill and would be too busy helping us put bait on our lines and take fish off to get any fishing done himself.

I'm so grateful for the knowledge I have that families can be together forever and that we will be together again one day.
