Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

70/365: Yum.  I think I ate 10 cookies the first night I made them.

And here's the recipe I use for my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.  They turn out great every time I make them.  Never go flat and never dry or crumbly.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe
1 c butter softened
1 c packed brown sugar
1/2 white sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 and 3/4 c all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c quick oats
1 c chocolate chips (I like mini chips the best for these)

1. Preheat oven to 325 (165 Celsius)
2. Cream butter and sugars until smooth. Beat in eggs and add vanilla
3. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt.  Stir into creamed mixture until just blended.  Mix in oats and chocolate chips.  Roll into balls and place on an ungreased baking sheet.
4. Bake 10 to 13 minutes in preheated oven.  Cook cookies 5 minutes on cookie sheet before transferring to cooling rack.

Denver Part 1

I'm finally posting about our trip to Denver!  Jensen won an award for work, so we got to fly out to Denver and stay in a fancy hotel for the weekend and go to a fancy Verizon party.
We only had Friday and Saturday in Denver.  I got a flight out pretty early so we would have more time there.  After waking up at 4:30 so we could get ready and make it to the airport in time for our 6:50 flight I decided maybe getting there at 8:00 am was too early.  But it did give us time to have delicious breakfast.  We went to a crepe place that had giant crepes, and the yummiest hot chocolate.
There were a few things on my list I wanted to do when we were in Denver.  One was to visit the Denver mint, but they're closed on Fridays and over the weekend so we couldn't go, and another was to go to the capitol building. They're doing construction on that so we could only see the very top peaking out from the construction stuff.  Another on my list was to see the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
After breakfast and checking in to our hotel we went to the Cathedral. The stained glass windows were amazing! When we got there they announced that mass would be starting in 10 minutes so we even stayed for mass.  I had never been before so that was interesting to see.
Even though this is kind of silly I think my favorite thing in Denver was the giant blue bear!  It's just so big and awesome.

Enjoying the sun

69/365: Pigeon missed us while we were in Denver and I think Jensen missed her too. (March 10, 2013)

Denver 365

A few weekends ago Jensen and I went to Denver for a quick trip for an award he won for Verizon.  Here's some project 365 pictures for the trip.  I'll post more photos later!
66/365: Packing.  I love packing for trips, but always pack way too much.  I did a pretty good job this time, since our trip was only for one night I really didn't need to bring much at all. (March 7, 2013)
67/365: Door on the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Denver. (March 8, 2013)
68/365: Snowy Denver.  On Saturday when we were in Denver they were predicted to get 7-15 inches of snow.  I was excited about the idea of being snowed in, but when we were there they only ended up getting a few inches.  Here's the view from our hotel room. (March 9, 2013)
63/365: Kitty and shadow (March 4, 2013)
64/365: After all that pizza I needed some vegetables in my life, so salad it was! (March 5, 2013)

Getting Artsy

60/365: Friday night when Jensen was out of town Suz came over and we had a sleepover! We ate mac and cheese, some of my leftover pizza, and painted pants! Using this tutorial.  I dotted some pants, and Suz did hearts. (March 1, 2013)
61/365: Suz's complete heart pants. (March 2, 2013)
62/365: A few weeks ago at Michael's I bought a giant canvas!  I haven't painted in a while so I was pretty nervous to start, especially since my canvas is so big (4ft by 4ft).  I've been wanting to paint a picture of aspen trees for a while, so I finally started.  At our new house we have a big stairwell that needs some artwork, so I thought this would be nice to fill the empty wall. I'll be sure to show what it looks like when it's finished.

Finishing February

56/365: The Lifeboat. This was our book for bookclub last month. I have to say I didn't finish it.  I'm not sure why, but I just couldn't get into it. Then I found a site where I could download free ebooks, and downloaded a ton of new books that just kept my attention better than this. (February 25, 2013)
57/365: A normal evening at our house.  Just hanging out with Jensen and Pigeon. (February 26, 2013)
58/365: Carwash.  After weeks of putting of washing my nasty salty car I finally washed it.  I love seeing all the soap colors on the windshield.  And the picture below looks like it could be a painting to me. (February 27, 2013)
59/365: Pizza! Jensen went out of town the last weekend in February, so I got myself a pizza when he left to eat all on my own.  Delicious and kind of disgusting.  He hates Pizza Hut, and I kind of love it, so I treated myself.  And then I didn't have to cook all weekend long. (February 28, 2013)

Chalkboard Paint Jars

Supplies:
glass or cermaic jars (with or without lids is fine)
white spray paint
chalkboard paint
acrylic paint
paint brush
Gather supplies. I got my jars for about $1 each at my local thrift store
1. Spray paint the exterior of the jars.  Do several coats until you can no longer see through the paint.

2. Paint the inside of the jars with acrylic paint.

3. With a pencil draw the shape you want for the chalkboard paint and fill it in.
That's it! You're done!
