i love christmas!

I had the worst dream ever last night! (maybe not ever... but it was pretty bad). I had a dream that I missed Christmas! I'm one of those people who starts listening to Christmas music the day after Halloween, and who starts decorating the second Jensen will let me. In my dream last night it was Christmas day and I realized I had not listened to one Christmas song, decorated, bought any gifts, or worn any of my Christmas pajamas or Christmas socks. (Yes I have Christmas socks and pajamas that I wear every chance I get)I'm already getting so excited for when Christmas comes... Our house is big enough that we can have a real tree this year, and we have a fireplace and a mantel!! AND it's big enough we can have family come for Christmas! Who wants to come??

Here's a shot from Frosty's Christmas in July just for you.

swimming!

My friend/old roommate Natania got home from her mission about a month ago, and has moved back to Provo. Today we went swimming and took some pretty funny looking underwater pictures.

Home is where ever I'm with you

Last night I went to the Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake with Suzanne and my friend Jamie to see Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros. They're free outdoor concerts they have on Thursdays in July and August. Probably the most fun part about it was people watching. There are a lot of strange people who go.

mountain biking

Jensen got a new video camera that straps on to his bike helmet or his bike seat so he can film his mountain biking. Here's a movie he made from his first trim out with the camera.

happy pioneer day utah!

Jensen and I were called to be Primary age 5 teachers. This week was ours second week teaching. I think we're already getting better. Last week I felt like we were awkward teaching. I think they stopped listening halfway through the lesson and we didn't do enough fun things, but they're already starting to warm up to us. During sharing time/singing time one of the little girls was crying for her dad, who is normally in there with us, so she sat on my lap. Another girl in the class also joined us on my seat.

I feel a little funny in sharing time with all the little kids, but it's kind of fun too. I never really went to primary growing up so I don't know many of the primary songs, and now I get to learn them along with the rest of the primary kids.

hard at work

Yep, I'm at work right now and I'm writing a blog post. That's how busy it is today... but it is Saturday and I'm not supposed to work on Saturdays so I don't even feel bad.

On another note... I looooove Harry Potter! and went to the midnight showing last Thursday night, even though I never spend more than $1.50 to see a movie, and it was worth it, mostly so I could see all the crazies who dressed up. We got there around 8, ate some Bajio, and played Phase 10 while we waited in line. I even stayed awake for the entire movie, which is a rare occurrence for me when I watch late movies.

If you can name everyone in this photo without lookint at the caption below you get 5 cool points from me :)

baby you're a firework

I love 4th of July in Provo. The past two years I got to celebrate the entire weekend, instead of just on the 4th. This year the celebrating started up in Logan. First was the family reunion, then Jensen got to go to the car show while Clarice and I went to the temple. On Saturday night before the 4th we watched the fireworks up in Logan. It was a really big firework show, I think the biggest I've ever seen.

Sunday morning we came back to Provo. On Sunday night we started our Provo celebrating. Hundreds of people camp out on University Avenue and Center street in Provo on Sunday for the parade Monday morning. The past two years we've gotten a huge group of bicyclers together on we ride around the streets on Sunday night. Throughout the night more and more bikers join our group. It's a lot of fun. There was even a guy with huge speakers on his bike blaring music the entire ride. Jensen and I left the biking early compared to everyone else, and just in the time we rode with them we had gone about 10 miles back and forth on those streets.

Monday morning we got up at 6 to go to the hot air balloon festival. Every other year here I end up sleeping through it. This year the balloons weren't able to lift off the ground because of the wind, but I'm still glad I went to see it.

After the hot air balloon festival Jordan, Suzanne, and I rode our bikes to get breakfast, then Suzanne and I went back to her house for a little nap before the parade. This year was also my first time seeing the parade because I usually sleep through that too. It was the first real parade I've ever been to. The ones back home are so tiny with home made floats made of cardboard. There are sooooo many people watching the parade.
After the parade we went back to Suzanne's to nap some more. Then we went to the Freedom Festival to the booths down town. Later Jensen joined us for some fried chicken and potato salad. For dessert we went and got some ice cream cones.

To end our Fourth of July we lit of fireworks in the church parking lot behind Suzanne's house.
And just in case you're not tired of this song yet, here you go...

family reunion

Jensen and I went up to Logan Fourth of July weekend for the Jensen family reunion. We went up that Thursday and hung out with Aunt Loye and Jensen's parents that night. Friday we spent the day at someone's farm who had giant water slides on a hill just hanging out with family and eating lots of yummy food.

Here's Aunt Loye's famous homemade rootbeer.
This slide was actually pretty steep and fast! Going down the first time I was pretty scared. This swing was insane! I'm standing directly below Jensen when I took this picture with my camera pointed directly up in the air. He was going so high!

bike ride

A little while ago Jensen and I went on a bike ride up Provo Canyon, one of our favorite Sunday activities. Provo has gotten so much rain this spring and summer that the trees are full and green. Usually the green only lasts a little into summer, so it was nice to be surrounded by green, instead of brown mountains like we usually have.

moab

Jensen and I went to Moab a few weeks after visiting California. My friend got married in the Moab temple, and Jensen and I both took off work Friday to go to her sealing, and we both ended up getting Saturday off so we decided to take a little camping trip.

Moab was so pretty! The red rock there is so unique and beautiful next to the clear blue sky. I saw a ton of lizards while we were there. Here's a couple I found hiding between some rocks. When we first arrived we walked around a little and took some pictures and then decided it was time to find a campsite. It was pretty late on Friday night by the time we started looking so it took us a loooong time to find an empty spot. After we found one we made some hotdogs and s'mores for dinner and called it a night.
Here's Jensen and his headlamp that looks like a second moon.
Goodnight Moab! See you in the morning.
We got up bright and early so we could eat breakfast and go biking before the heat got too bad. We had (slightly burnt) biscuits and fruit for breakfast.

I'm a big wuss so I only lasted one pretty short bike ride and I was tired. Jensen didn't get all the biking in that he wanted so he went out for another longer, harder run without me holding him back. I waited back at the car until he finished. :)

This hill looks wimpy and flat in the picture, but I swear it was really steep and hard to ride up.
After our bike ride I wanted to go to the Arches. We drove to the national park and looked at all the different sites there. The actual arches were really cool. It was a pretty long hike out to them, for some reason I was thinking we'd basically just drive up to them and take pictures.

I wanted to go swimming really bad while we were there so I looked up somewhere on my phone and found Mill Creek. There was about a one mile hike to this little swimming hole where you could jump off a little cliff into the water below. When we got there I was scared to jump because I heard some people taking about how the water was pretty shallow. Jensen and I watched other people jumping in for a while, while I decided whether or not I was going to jump. Then one guy we watched jump in landed and started yelling when he went to stand up. He broke his foot pretty bad when he hit the bottom. It was kind of scary and gross to see. I definitely wasn't going to jump after watching that so we hiked back out.
Jensen and I were pretty good at putting on lots of sunscreen throughout the day.... but apparently not good enough.

Better late than never

Jensen and I went to California to visit Dena and Andrew for our one year anniversary, about a month ago and I'm just now writing about it... I had never been to California before so I was really excited to go!

We passed through a couple of the areas Jensen served in on his mission on the way. Here's a picture of Jensen in Sun Valley Nevada, the first area he served in on his mission 10 years ago! He was so excited driving around and showing me his first apartment he stayed in and different places that were meaningful to him.
Reno! This is another area Jensen served in on his mission.
While we were in Reno Jensen really wanted to go to the car museum there (me, not so much). We went and it was ok :) My favorite part was that they had some old fashioned dress-up clothes that I got to try on and take pictures in.

Here's my first view of California ever! I was a little surprised to see so much snow in June! but we were at about 7,000 feet.

The first thing we did when we got there was visit the Google campus. We looked at all the statue/sculpture things of different Google products, and rode around on the Google bikes. When we were getting ready to leave a security guard told us the bikes were only for employees and we were supposed to have an escort to tour the campus. Oops! I'm glad we found out after we were done have our fun.

The second day we were in California we went to Santa Cruz to the beach. I haven't seen the ocean for a long time and I haven't seen the Pacific ocean since I was 10, so I was really excited to go. There was a platform next to the pier with a bunch of sea lions that were neat to watch. Every time a new sea lion joined them on the little dock they would growl and honk (I'm not really sure what to call the noise they made) at each other really loud.

The beach was actually pretty cold, but the sand was much warmer, so after walking around for a while Jensen and I decided to lay down on a towel and we both ended up getting a nice sun burn.

After the beach we went back and roasted some marshmallows and made s'mores. Yum!

The next day we went to San Francisco! I think this was my favorite part of our trip. We rode the train to get there and rode the cable cars to the wharf in San Francisco. We could see the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from the wharf. We also got some Ghirardelli chocolate while we were there.

Down at the wharf Dena and I went to a little art gallery. They had Painting(s) by Chagall, Rembrandt etchings, and some sketches by Picasso.

We came home from out trip to find that while we were gone Pigeon found and ate an entire chocolate candy bar. I learned the other day that cat's can't even taste the flavor sweet. So she must really like the bitter taste of chocolate.
